What is polymer clay?
Polymer clay is an art medium known for its incredible diversity - if you can dream it, you can make it. While it contains the label "clay" in its name, it contains no clay minerals and its base is polymer polyvinyl chloride, otherwise known as PVC. You may remember Bakelite, a popular plastic used for a lot of jewelry and now a vintage collector's item. But let us underline and bold - our work is not single use plastic. While our medium does indeed use plastic, we believe solidly in the quality of our pieces - meant to last in your wardrobe forever, not as a single use item. We pride ourselves in making very small quantity batches to ensure little waste as well as selling our imperfect items to keep our practices as waste-free as possible.
What metals do you use?
We have painstakingly researched suppliers to find the highest of quality 14k gold-filled metal to use in our pieces. If you see gold within the piece, it's 14k gold-filled. For any stud pieces, we use titanium steel, which can be up to four times stronger than stainless steel. Titanium steel is also contains no alloys and is a pure metal, making it incredibly safe for all skin types, especially those who are sensitive.
How are your posts attached to your earrings? Do you use resin? I have a sensitivity to it.
We use a form of liquid clay to secure our posts. If we use resin, it is only on the front of our pieces as to not touch skin.
How do I care for my earrings?
We want your pieces to last forever, so please read the following for ensuring a long life for them. Store in a jewelry box or hung up away from direct sunlight. Remove before showering or swimming. If gold-filled parts tarnish, simply rub a microfiber cloth on the metal to shine them up again. To remove make-up, use a clean cloth or q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and gently wipe.
